KENTUCKY - Epsilon Omega-Kentucky collegians capture third place in spirit points and most money raised during DanceBlue, a 24-hour dance marathon benefiting the UK Pediatric Oncology Clinic. The KDs raised $10,000 of the nearly $637,000 in total contributions. |

MISSISSIPPI - Suzanne Duckworth, Mrs. Mississippi 2009, is preparing to pass her crown to her successor during the upcoming June competition. Looking back over the past year, the Beta Sigma-Southern Mississippi alumna says, “Through this experience, I have learned so much about myself ...I truly have learned that you can do anything!” Suzanne traveled last September to Tucson, Ariz., for the Mrs. America pageant where the contestants were judged on interview, swimsuit, evening gown and state costume. Suzanne’s platform goes hand in hand with her occupation as a registered nurse and a family and professional services coordinator for the Mississippi Organ Recovery Agency. Suzanne says, “Organ donation is giving the gift of life, and so through my title I strive to educate the public about giving such a precious gift.” |

MISSOURI - Author Sally Tippett Rains announces the release of her new book “The Making Of A Masterpiece, The True Story Of Margaret Mitchell's Classic Novel, Gone With The Wind” and a new Web site, www.GWTWbook.com, dedicated to all things “Gone With The Wind.” The book and Web site commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the film winning an unprecedented 10 Academy Awards in February 1940. In addition, Sally recently appeared on an author panel with Turner Classic Movie Channel's Robert Osborne to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of GWTW's premiere in Atlanta. Sally is an initiate of Epsilon Iota-Missouri and a member of the St. Louis alumnae chapter. |

NEW JERSEY - Ruth Anne Eisenberg Robbins, a Sigma-Theta-Pennsylvania alumna and a clinical professor of law at Rutgers School of Law Camden, is a contributing author in the newly released book, “The Law & Harry Potter.” The volume looks at law and legal institutions as portrayed in J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels and contains more than 20 chapters by legal academics. Ruth Anne’s chapter considers Harry Potter as an archetypal client using Joseph Campbell’s hero’s journey as the background. |

OKLAHOMA -Members of the Tulsa, Okla., alumnae chapter congratulate Cindy Blewitt Mayes, center, who was recognized during the Tulsa Area Alumnae Panhellenic Awards Luncheon for her community contributions and leadership. Cindy, an alumna of Beta Epsilon-Tulsa, serves the community as pastor of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Tulsa and chairman of the Oklahoma United Methodist Conference Project Transformation Board, a literacy based ministry that provides one-on-one reading mentoring for underserved elementary children in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and Bartlesville. It was the first faith-based program in Oklahoma to receive AmeriCorps support. A former KD national officer, Cindy credits her leadership experience with Kappa Delta in preparing her for ministry. |

SOUTH CAROLINA - Miss South Carolina is Furman University senior Rachel Law. Rachel will compete in the Miss USA pageant on May 16 in Las Vegas. During the state pageant that was held last November, Rachel received the “most photogenic” award and a college scholarship. An active member of Zeta Pi chapter, Rachel served as social chairman and has also volunteered in her hometown of Greenville with the Salvation Army and Queen for a Day, which named Rachel as its 2009 volunteer of the year. As a volunteer with Queen for a Day, Rachel brought a little glamour and a lot of fun to pediatric cancer patients with make-up, nail polish and their own tiaras to wear. Rachel, who has been competing in pageants since age 13, says, “It’s been a great way for me to get involved with my community and continually challenge myself.” |

TEXAS - After serving as Epsilon Chi-Baylor’s Girl Scout chairman for three semesters, senior Yanin Gonzales accepts a position with the Girl Scouts of Central Texas as the lead program specialist. When she graduates, the position will stay with a Baylor Kappa Delta. |
